GlobICE Ice Motion

Animation showing satellite radar images of the Beaufort Sea north of Alaska, and ice displacement vectors derived from the images by the GlobICE ice information system. The images are taken every three days by the Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar (ASAR) on the European Space Agency's Envisat satellite. The images shown are from 19th, 22nd and 25th March, 2008, with derived ice displacement from 19th to 22nd, and 22nd to 25th March. Monthly average ice velocity is also shown for the whole Arctic from October 2010 to April 2011.
